America's Dad

Written by
Rob Kenney is a father of two who recently created a YouTube channel entitled: Dad, How Do I? dedicated to answering questions and teaching us younger peeps how to fix stuff. And he did this out of love. As one of eight children, Rob's father left his family when he was a teenager. As expected, that left some deep emotional scars. But Rob decided that he would make his life better with the goal of having his own family one day that would raise "great adults." Rob made his dream come true. And now that his own kid is grown…

Ross-tastic

Written by
Bob Ross is legend. He's never been more popular, thanks to that beyotch named COVID. First of all, many people were looking for hobbies while in QT and painting with Bob became popular. Second of all, just watching his show The Joy of Painting is so relaxing. His quirks and mannerisms; his sayings-- all so... peaceful. In a "COVID impulse buy moment," I snagged this mini Bob Ross talking bobblehead and mini easel book. I look forward every morning to seeing what painting is next, and hearing what wisdom he will share.  If you're all about Bob, you can get…

Happiness

This is a picture of an Eastern Bluebird. And it really doesn't depict just how beautiful this bird is. I had never seen one before in my life. Then, one day, he appeared at our living room window. I was afraid he was going to fly into the window as some birds do-- but not this fella. He landed on the outside screen and just looked in at me. He did that a few times in a span of a few minutes. I was able to move slowly towards the window to get a good look at him. His little…

Delish!

Written by
I want to kiss the person that invented the slow cooker. It's a fabulous way to make a fabulous meal with minimal effort. It truly is difficult to ruin anything (unless you leave it on all night and fall asleep, burning everything inside. At least, that's what one friend said happened to her.) Plus, who wants to turn the oven on when it's 10,000 degrees outside? One of my favorite go-to slow cooker recipes is Mississippi Roast. So simple. so delicious: Ingredients: 3-4 lb. roast 1 packet ranch dressing mix 1 packet dry onion soup mix 1 stick butter 4-5…

Christmas In... Now

Written by
I'm a complete Christmas girl. Every year, it looks like Christmas threw up inside my house. I'm proud of this. I won't go so far as to decorate in August. I follow the unspoken rule of (spoken in a deep authoritative voice): "The tree doesn't go up until after Thanksgiving." Though I admit I did put up the decorations before Thanksgving last year-- but not the tree-- therefore, no rules were broken. LOL If you're needing to get out of the house, get into A Christmas Story House! Yup, it's back open to the public. Take a tour. Stop by…

Keep It Up

Written by
I found myself thinking-- and even saying out loud recently-- "We're not even halfway through this year yet! Not looking forward to the next six months!" But then I realized I need to change my mindset and outlook, despite everything that is happening around us. Not that we are blind to, or callous to what is going on, but we need to take a step back; find that piece of hope that lies within us; and take one more step. With that, this song popped into my head. How fitting.

Quarantweening

Written by
I'm admittedly a nostalgic fool. I often find myself reminiscing about childhood, my teen years-- especially with everything that we've faced so far this year. You're probably doing the same thing. Experts have termed our walk down memory lane as "Quarantweening," meaning we're spending our lockdown time dreaming of simpler, more carefree times. Like when all that mattered was doing homework, finding the perfect lipgloss, spending hours listening to tunes, etc...  If you find yourself digging out your old gaming system, looking at your yearbooks, or drinking a Capri Sun (with booze added because you're grown now)-- it's all good. …

Best Life

Written by
I'm a squirrel lover. Always have been since I was a kid. Back then, Charlie The Squirrel would visit me every day, and I'd feed him peanuts out of my hand. I'm *this* close to that happening with White Paws (the squirrel.) The hubs and I leave peanuts for him on the outside ledge of our front window. And he visits at least three times a day to snack. If he sees us sitting at the kitchen table and there are no nuts for him, he'll stare in the window, like "Hello! Where's the good stuff!?!?" LOL Since the hubs…

Impulsive

Written by
Never go to the store hungry. I've done it two weeks in a row now, and then wondered how I dropped so much money while there.  In addition to buying a brick of Havarti cheese-- because I'm gonna make a grilled cheese sandwich one of these days--  and some thick-sliced bacon, I impulsively saw this cute and delicious little set of oil with dipping spices for $7.99. I can purchase an entire large bottle of olive oil for that price. But... when you're carb-starving and you haven't been to your favorite Italian restaurant in forevs and you're missing "bread and…
