Not the Christmas Pickle

Written by
There are all kinds of things people "hide" in the Christmas tree for kiddos to find to make the day extra special. Sometimes, there are less-traditional ornaments on the tree-- like some rando animal. So far this holiday season, an owl was hanging out in the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree and had to be re-homed. Then, a woman in Australia said a koala wandered into her home and decided to spend some time in her Christmas tree. And now, this... A Florida woman thought a cat wandered in through her dog door and wound up in her Christmas tree one…

Good Luck

Written by
What will 2021 hold? Many of us don't want to get our hopes up, like: "2021 is gonna be my year!" because look at what happened when we said it last New Year's Eve. But, I do hope 2021 is a good one for you. If you're into superstitions (if not really, at least they're fun), here are a few you could try as you throat-punch the old year and ring in the new. Good luck! No, really. May you have good luck... Eat 12 Grapes At MidnightOne for each month of the new year, to bring you good luck.…

The Green Stuff

That's what I used to call the dessert I'd only ever enjoy at Christmas time: Watergate Salad. There are a lot of foods associated with Christmas traditions, but this one was always served up by my aunt on Christmas day. This yummy treat isn't really associated with President Nixon, and isn't a salad. Confusion aside, it's the perfect blend of pistachio pudding and pineapple yumminess. Which is why I serve it to my peeps... WATERGATE SALAD Ingredients: 1 can (20 oz.) crushed pineapple in juice, undrained  1 pkg. (3.4 oz) JELL-O Pistachio Flavor Instand Pudding   1 cup mini marshmallows   1/2 cup chopped pecans…

Hobby-ing Along

Written by
There are some bright spots to 2020. With all that stay-at-home time, we've done a few things. Seems cooking was our number one hobby, followed by reading, then writing. So, getting back to basics?  If you're looking to find a hobby in 2021, may I suggest something... different? Enjoy...

What a Turkey!

Written by
Surely you remember the infamous Thanksgiving episode of Friends. The one where everyone shared their worst Thanksgiving stories, and Joey got his head stuck in a turkey. And then Monica put a turkey on her head as a way of smoothing things over with Chandler at the end of the episode. And then he professed his love for her for the first time... Well, Courteney Cox recreated the turkey-on-the-head thing. And it was epic and gross-- all at the same time.           View this post on Instagram                  …

Gordon Ramsey is going to quench your hellish thirst, and give you a buzz. Okay! He's set to launch his own line of spiked selter: Hell's Hard Seltzer. Flavors include "Berry Inferno.” A mix of peach, blueberry and raspberry. “Knicker Twist.” A blend of passionfruit, pineapple and orange. “Mean Green.” A fusion of kiwi, lime, mint and pineapple. “That’s Forked.” A combo of key lime, vanilla and graham. Each seltzer is a little more than 5-percent alcohol. The 12-can variety packs will…

Merry Chicken!

Written by
We all have some sort of holiday traditions. We like to decorate the Christmas tree the day after Thanksgiving while watching the horrible B film "Thankskilling", followed by an evening of pizza and "Die Hard".  Some people hide the pickle or shoe ornament in their trees. And then... there are other, different traditions around the world. In Japan, the traditional Christmas dinner is KFC. A marketing campaign has convinced the Japanese that KFC is a traditional American Christmas. In fact, statues of The Colonel are dressed in Santa outfits. In the week leading up to Christmas, Venezuelans attend a daily…

Kissed Off

Let's get right to it. What in the af are you doing, Hershey's? Messing with our beloved Christmas Hershey Kisses commercial!?!?!? Some things don't need a reboot. And with this year as craptastic as it's been, we're all craving comfort and familiarity-- like this classic commercial.   Awww... right? Warms the heart. Makes me think of a simpler, happier time-- like 2019. And then... and then... you went and ruined it! Cute. But no. Just. No. Stick with the original. Before we all line up to ring your bell. End of rant.
