While the whole haunted house-thing is not happening, they've re-imagined their popular event, calling it Tricks and Treats Fall Fest. It happens every Saturday and Sunday from noon to 8 pm through November 1st. There will be trick-or-treating, costume contests, activities for kids, a food fest, special shows, and rides.  Here's a preview:

Fall for It

Written by
Even though people seem to find a reason to complain about every season, I enjoy them all. I don't like snowy driving because most drivers aren't the best, but I love living in the NEO. I love that we have four-ish seasons. And while I love spending time on our boat and soaking up the sun and not wearing gloves, my favorite season is fall. I like that it's warm during the day, but cooler at night. Good hoodie weather. I love the colors of fall and the smells and foods of fall. With that being said, there was a…

Hecks No!

I think we've established I'm a foodie. I enjoy a good meal/treat/drink-- emphasis on good. So, methinks I'll be avoiding Archie McPhee's Ketchup Candy Canes. Not even the tagline: "The best candy cane to eat with French fries" is going to lure me in. Nope. But, if you're a ketchup fanatic-- by all means, cane it up! Or try their other new flavors: pho and shiitake mushrooms.  A box of six will set you back $6. Gag gift? In more ways than one possibly...

Labor Day weekend is here! I can't believe we're already at the last hurrah of summer. Time for one more bigger cookout before things wind down. With that in mind, I want to share my mac-n-cheese recipe that keeps 'em coming back for thirds. Creamy Mac-n-Cheese Ingredients: 8 oz elbow macaroni 1/2 cup all-purpose flour 1 tsp dry mustard or Grey Poupon 1/8 tsp salt 2 cups milk 1/2 cup grated Parmesan 8 oz cottage cheese 8 oz shredded sharp cheddar 4-6 slices cheese of your choice Instructions: Cook and drain macaroni according to package directions for al dente. Grease…

What to do with that grease after you're done frying some yummy bacon... Pour it down the drain, right? NOOOOOO! Not even if you're using all the hot water in the world is it okay to do this. It could lead to issues that will cause you a big ol' headache down the road. Here's a hack that a U.K. woman came up with:

One in Two Million

Written by
I did something impulsive.  Remember when we talked about the rare blue lobster that an employee discovered at the Red Lobster in Cuyahoga Falls? Well, that one-in-two-million lobster is now living out a non-feast-on-me life at the Akron Zoo. The Red Lobster employee had named him Claude, after RL's mascot. Well, the zoo discovered he is a she, and so she was named Clawdia. Love it! I saw that Clawdia was a part of the Akron Zoo's Care for a Critter program. And I just had to contribute. It was impulsive. It happened at 4 in the morning when I…

Sometimes a legend doesn't intend on becoming a legend. Like Rick Astley. Let's face it-- a lot of people busted on his dance moves, or lack thereof, back in his heyday. But this dude is still on fire! He became a prank and an internet meme with whomever decided to coin "Rickrolling" and put clips from his video "Never Gonna Give You Up" into other videos. Rick rolled with it. Really! He Rickrolled other musician's concerts. He has transcended generations with style and the ability to laugh at himself. Rick really has a great voice, and he's still making music…

Serving Size

Written by
I had a lot of time to think while on vacation. And eat. So I binge-bought this yummy pie. It's apple crumb. Not only am I getting a daily recommended serving of fruit, but-- the crumb part. The. Best. Since this pie is not average size (as you can see in the picture), does that mean this pie could be considered one serving? Asking for a friend... I know, I know. I'll be wearing this pie on my thighs if I inhale the entire thing. I mean, if my friend eats the whole pie...

Caribbean Queen

I'm out of here, y'all! On vacation for a week. While my preferred vacation involves a beach and large body of water, it ain't happening this year. (Suck it, COVID!) But that's okay. I'll make a rum-filled drink, turn off the AC, and pretend I'm on a beach in the Bahamas or Jamaica. With that in mind, HERE ARE some facts you may not have known about the tropical locale.  P.S. I'm gonna do all the stuff that everyone else did while in QT: baking, staying up late, snacking, hair in a bun and yoga pants... See ya in a…

You've probably taken a selfie or five, or a family photo, or a couple's photo with the Weeping Willow at Edgewater Park. I love weeping willows. They're so beautiful and floatie, and airy. But who planted this tree, and why? Gather 'round, JenY Nation. It's time for a fun story. Get the scoop HERE.
