Did you stay up to watch the Browns win the Wild Card game? Right? A miracle already in 2021. Unless you plan on a sudden "I've-got-a-stomach-bug" call to your boss (which would be ill-advised, so to speak), you're gonna need to wake up and get to it. Here are a couple of non-caffeinated ways to WAKE UP at work today: Get outside for 15 minutes. That change of scenery in nature will break up your monotone, sterile environment (even if you're still working from home). If you can't move that body enough, stimulate your brain: Crossword puzzle. Sudoko.  Drink some…

I'm not a vanity license plate kind of person. I'm too cheap to get one, and... I don't need to draw attention to myself. But, I enjoy other people's plates. The State of Ohio doesn't always like some creative plates that Ohioans desire to place on their vehicles, though. I personally don't find some of these offensive. But, that's why I'm not in charge of anything. Click HERE to see the list of rejected vanity plates from 2020. You'll get a good laugh.

Pen Pal

It's amazing how we can feel disconnected in an over-connected world... I love technology, but I'm all for old school living, too. Sometimes, we need to be basic-- like reading actual books. Having a conversation using your voice on the phone. Using a pen and paper to write something down.  If you're feeling disconnected, why not find a pen pal and write a letter? Penpalooza has 7,000 members so far. Sign up; connect with someone; write a letter; make a new friend. Those that are participating say it's been a great way to feel connected and there's something to look…

Sherpa-duper

Written by
My obsession with looks-like-leather leggings has calmed a bit (with no regrets). Now that the weather is cold, my newest obsession is sherpa. I don't know why I haven't gotten friendly with sherpa a lot sooner. But now, it's true love. With the temps near artic inside our on-air studio at times, my trusty little jacket no longer keeps me warm enough. So now I keep a light jacket and queen sherpa at work so I can be comfy at all times. Here's my new buddy; Exact color I purchased. I'm just gonna put this out there, ladies-- get one.…

Driving a car is soooo cliche. The next time you need to make a quick run to the store, why not jump on a buffalo to get there? Joel Lybbert is a horse trainer from Cardston, Albert. He got everyone's attention when he rode a buffalor to the grocery store last week. He performs at rodeos and fairs on his Texas Longhorn and buffalo, and has always wanted to tame that beastly bison: "It has always been a dream of mine to train a buffalo to ride. I have always esteemed it as the pinnacle of being a cowboy," said Lybbert.…

Good Luck

"It's bad luck if you don't eat pork and sauerkraut on New Year's Day!" My parents have reminded of this every year since I've been on my own. Luckily, I like pork and sauerkraut. But I enjoy casseroles even more. So, why not combine the two? Here's what I throw together every New Year's Day. For all that delicious luck! Good Luck Casserole Ingredients: ⅓ cup all-purpose flour1 cup chicken broth1 cup milk (I use almond milk)¼ cup sour cream1 small onion, finely chopped (or dried minced onion to taste)1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese1 cup drained sauerkrautA couple dashes of…

First to 2021

Written by
As I'm writing this, it's 3:40 am on Thursday, 12/31/20. We're *this* close to putting this year in the rearview. And in two short hours from this writing, the Pacific Islands of Tonga, Samoa and Christmas Island/Kiribati will step into 2021.  While we like to eat, drink, and be really festive, the Tongans do NYE a little differently. In fact, they celebrate for the entire time between Christmas and New Year's day. Church, family, and food are the big 3 things. Many businesses are closed between Christmas and the day after New Year's Day so people can celebrate. Many communities…

Stuffed

The whole white Christmas thing made me feel all kinds of cozy bliss. Though I loathe driving in snow, I do enjoy the peaceful calm associated with a snow-covered landscape. And I also think about delish casseroles to make me warm and cozy in my belly. LOL  Here's a dish I tried the other day that ticked all the boxes: easy to make; delicious; husband-approved. Swiss Cheese Chicken Stuffing Casserole Ingredients: 1 1/2 pounds chicken tenders 2 (8 oz) boxes Stove Top stuffing (I used one chicken, one sage) 1/2 cup butter for stuffing 3 cups water for stuffing 2…
