Beary Nice To Meet You

Written by
Naps are golden. I wish we had naptime like we did as kids. Sometimes you get into that really deep sleep, and all is well--until you're interrupted. Like this guy. By a bear.   Is this the same bear that tapped the jogger on the leg before running off? Perhaps this is just some kind of bear game of tag. Or maybe they just wanna hang and have snacks and watch Netflix. The bear life might be a lonely life... who knows.

Coziness is right around the corner! I'm ignoring the season after the fall wonderfulness hangs out with us. We'll deal with that when we have to. But for now, commence the pleasant day time temps and the crisp evening air.  With that in mind, it's time to do the ol' body lotion switch (it's a girl thing). These scents are my favorite. Plus, they actually keep my skin soft and they smell fantastic. Sadly, Cashmere Glow is discontinued (why do you do this to me, Bath & Body!?!?)... It's okay. I'll stock up.  Now... I'm in need of some hot…

Rise Up

Written by
Geoffrey Owens. It's a name you may not be familiar with. He's an actor best known for his role on The Cosby Show back-in-the-day. While he's still been acting over the years, he hasn't been in the spotlight as much as he was previously. So in an effort to pay his bills and support his family, he took a job at Trader Joe's. Two years ago, someone recognized him, and then job-shamed him on social media. Completely not cool. But all that shade has blossomed into sweet blessings for Geoffrey. He received acting offers left and right. Tyler Perry offered…

Fall for It

Written by
Even though people seem to find a reason to complain about every season, I enjoy them all. I don't like snowy driving because most drivers aren't the best, but I love living in the NEO. I love that we have four-ish seasons. And while I love spending time on our boat and soaking up the sun and not wearing gloves, my favorite season is fall. I like that it's warm during the day, but cooler at night. Good hoodie weather. I love the colors of fall and the smells and foods of fall. With that being said, there was a…

Hecks No!

Written by
I think we've established I'm a foodie. I enjoy a good meal/treat/drink-- emphasis on good. So, methinks I'll be avoiding Archie McPhee's Ketchup Candy Canes. Not even the tagline: "The best candy cane to eat with French fries" is going to lure me in. Nope. But, if you're a ketchup fanatic-- by all means, cane it up! Or try their other new flavors: pho and shiitake mushrooms.  A box of six will set you back $6. Gag gift? In more ways than one possibly...

Labor Day weekend is here! I can't believe we're already at the last hurrah of summer. Time for one more bigger cookout before things wind down. With that in mind, I want to share my mac-n-cheese recipe that keeps 'em coming back for thirds. Creamy Mac-n-Cheese Ingredients: 8 oz elbow macaroni 1/2 cup all-purpose flour 1 tsp dry mustard or Grey Poupon 1/8 tsp salt 2 cups milk 1/2 cup grated Parmesan 8 oz cottage cheese 8 oz shredded sharp cheddar 4-6 slices cheese of your choice Instructions: Cook and drain macaroni according to package directions for al dente. Grease…

What to do with that grease after you're done frying some yummy bacon... Pour it down the drain, right? NOOOOOO! Not even if you're using all the hot water in the world is it okay to do this. It could lead to issues that will cause you a big ol' headache down the road. Here's a hack that a U.K. woman came up with:

One in Two Million

Written by
I did something impulsive.  Remember when we talked about the rare blue lobster that an employee discovered at the Red Lobster in Cuyahoga Falls? Well, that one-in-two-million lobster is now living out a non-feast-on-me life at the Akron Zoo. The Red Lobster employee had named him Claude, after RL's mascot. Well, the zoo discovered he is a she, and so she was named Clawdia. Love it! I saw that Clawdia was a part of the Akron Zoo's Care for a Critter program. And I just had to contribute. It was impulsive. It happened at 4 in the morning when I…
